Being a Xenomorph host is almost always a death sentence in Alien canon, as that means a Chestburster will inevitably do as-advertised and burst forth from one’s chest. However, until that time comes, Xenomorph hosts actually have a hidden power that can be used against the Xenomorphs themselves.
The Xenomorphs’ horrific life-cycle is this: an Ovomorph containing a Facehugger is laid by the Queen Xenomorph, and the egg waits until a viable host is present before it opens and releases the Facehugger, which then implants the genetic material that will become a Xenomorph inside the host’s chest. Before long, the Chestburster is ready to hatch, which means the host has served its purpose. While death is all but guaranteed, a Xenomorph host does have a little bit of time in between the Facehugger’s implantation of Xenomorph DNA inside them, and the Xenomorph actually being big enough to burst out of their chest. As one AvP comic reveals, it is within that period of time that a host actually becomes one with the Xenomorphs’ entire hive, which grants them certain advantages over the alien creatures. alien shirt mens
