Texans are a proud and independent bunch, and that appears to extend to a couple home-grown, independent grocery and convenience store favorites. buc-ees shirt
A report issued last month found that Texas favorites H-E-B and Buc-ee's extended their leads over other regional competitors by boosting foot traffic through 2022. Saying H-E-B has a "cult-like following," analytics software company Placer.ai found in a March report that H-E-B added to its popularity over competitors in the state as the year came to a close.
The San Antonio-based grocer accounted for 47 percent of all grocery store visits in Texas last year, far and away the leader in the state. Its growth in the fourth quarter, a 7 percent increase in foot traffic over the same period in pre-pandemic 2019, outpaced gains of 2.7 percent seen by all other grocery chains operating in the state in the same period.
